Fans anticipating the return of Outbreak in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 may need to rethink their expectations. Treyarch has confirmed that the open-world Zombies mode—first introduced over four years ago—has been officially canceled in favor of a new hybrid experience known as “Endgame.” For players who want to get ahead in the new release or improve their multiplayer progression, some have even turned to buy bot lobbies bo7 to sharpen their skills in preparation for the upcoming challenges.

According to early leaks, Outbreak was originally planned for Black Ops 7’s Avalon map, featuring multiple difficulty zones and progression tiers. However, Treyarch opted to merge elements from Outbreak, Modern Warfare Zombies, and DMZ into a large-scale cooperative PvE mode. Endgame can only be unlocked after completing the Black Ops 7 campaign and supports up to 32 players exploring Avalon together.

Players will complete activities, assignments, and combat encounters to raise their “combat rating,” unlocking new abilities and upgrades as they progress. Treyarch emphasized that the system promotes replayability and shared progression across the entire game. This means time spent leveling weapons or operators in one mode will also count toward others—a change welcomed by the broader community.

Unlike DMZ, Endgame isn’t about hoarding loot. Instead, it’s a strategic extraction experience where dying resets all progress, including your combat rating. Players can extract mid-mission to preserve their progress or risk losing everything for greater rewards.

The new mode’s blend of cooperative play, exploration, and tactical decision-making reflects Treyarch’s goal to evolve Zombies beyond its traditional round-based roots. While the loss of Outbreak disappoints some, Endgame’s innovation could redefine the franchise’s PvE landscape.
